The Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme [BOPP] is inviting students aged 10 to 18 to enter a video contest highlighting the importance of protecting Bermuda’s ocean, with entries due by November 8.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme [BOPP] is inviting students across Bermuda to enter a new video contest and speak up as young ambassadors for the ocean.
“Participants are asked to create a 60-to-90-second social media-style video that covers three things: their personal connection to the ocean, why Bermuda’s ocean needs protecting, and how a healthy ocean helps protect our island from the impacts of climate change.”
“The future of Bermuda’s ocean relies on young people,” said Sarah Brooks, BOPP Implementation Manager. “This contest is an opportunity to hear directly from them about why the ocean matters and what they want to see protected. We’re looking forward to seeing their creativity.”
The spokesperson said, “The contest is open to students ages 10 to 18 and is divided into three age groups: 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18. Entries can be portrait or landscape, and participants are encouraged to be creative with the structure, style, and presentation of their video. For each age category, first prize will be a DJI Osmo 4 camera with underwater capabilities, and second prize will be a $100 gift card to Makin’ Waves. All participants will receive a certificate for 5 community service hours.
“How to Enter:
- Entries are due by November 8, 2026.
- Videos are submitted through an online form and require a parent or guardian’s signature on a media waiver.
- Winners will be announced on November 13, 2026.
“Full contest details, the submission form, and the media waiver are available at www.bermudaoceanprosperity.org/2026-video-contest.”
