It’s crazy to think that come May, Arsenal could end up in a title battle with Brighton of all sides.
Manchester City, as we all know, could face a heavy points deduction this season which, if severe enough, could relegate them to the Championship. Obviously, only time will tell, but currently, it could potentially be on the cards.
Could Man City’s Points Deduction Change the Title Race?
If the Citizens face major penalties for violating financial rules across 114 charges, a final decision could arrive early next year. With the 2026/27 season moving so quickly, that verdict could be here soon. It feels like August was yesterday, but November is already around the corner.
At the moment, Arsenal in second trail Man City at the top by three points in the table, with City continuing their 100% start to the season in the Premier League after winning their first seven matches on the bounce, terrifyingly.
The hardest league in the world is tight, as we know, but this season it’s clear that it’s already become even tighter, despite the heavy legal pressures mounting up on the blue side of Manchester.

Could Brighton Become Arsenal’s Biggest Title Rivals?
However, if City meet their fate this season and the Gunners keep up their hard work in the league, then we could well and truly end up winning back-to-back titles, which we haven’t done in over 90 years, during the days of the legendary Herbert Chapman.
The Seagulls could also be up there too, just behind us, considering they’ve only lost one game and are remarkably just two points off us in third.
Brighton have already scored an incredible 23 goals in their opening seven league games, compared to Arsenal’s 11, and have a goal difference of +18. That’s some attacking form and certainly makes them a team to watch!
Mikel Arteta’s side could be well and truly level with Man City, but Brighton proved they knew a thing or two about us, defeating the men in red and white 3-0 earlier in the season, which is still haunting us over a month later.
It’s paramount that we defeat them at home in the second half of the season, otherwise it could prove costly in the title race.
Let’s see how things turn out for the one and only Arsenal, but either way, I’m sure all Gooners would welcome more silverware delivered to the Emirates this season. But who will we be fighting for that silverware?

Could Brighton really become Arsenal’s biggest title rivals if Man City lose points, or do you think the Seagulls will struggle to maintain their impressive start?
