Solana's chain activity remains high, with transfers of stablecoins, decentralized trading, and below-average transaction fees contributing to usage. Though, rising active addresses and transaction counts do not directly imply higher usage, as the active trading is mainly done through robot traders.
Solana Active Addresses Reflect Network Participation
Active addresses on Solana are defined as the total number of wallets that interacted with the blockchain during a certain window of time. Nevertheless, a person may own numerous addresses, so an address is not necessarily a unique user.
Solana had approximately 3.21 million active addresses and 118.14 million transactions during a recent 24-hour period, according to DefiLlama. In the meantime, data from October 2026 revealed from 4.6 million to 10.2 million monthly active trading wallets exhibited human patterns of behavior between November 2025 and September 2026.
Solana Transaction Volume Achieves Quarterly Growth
Solana carried out 3.18 billion completed non-vote transactions in September 2026, up 8.3% against August. Third-quarter non-vote transactions were 8.78 billion, up 23.3% quarter-on-quarter, according to a September report from the Solana Foundation.
Non-vote transactions are token transfers, swaps on a decentralized exchange, and smart contract interactions. However, an increase in transactions can also be caused by automated trading leading to network traffic.
Solana Network Fees are a Sign of Market Activity
The inexpensive cost of transactions makes frequent token movement, decentralised trading, and applications on the blockchain possible. Data from Galaxy Research revealed that Solana experienced a 44% quarter-over-quarter decrease in its network fees during Q2 2026 due to the drop in speculative trading.
At the same time, DefiLlama stated that it generated roughly USD 830,224 in daily chain fees and USD 1.74 billion in decentralized exchange trade volume. These numbers show that the number of transactions and fee creation do not necessarily increase in the same proportion, especially when market conditions are different.
Automated Trading Accounts for Significant Activity
Automated trading bots strongly represent the overall volume of transactions on Solana. In October 2026, research from Bitquery revealed automated-wallet traders accounted for around 66% to 77% of decentralized exchange swaps, even though they accounted for only 1% to 3% of traders.
Meanwhile, stablecoins indicate the wider use cases of the network outside of speculation and trading. Solana reported just under 420 million USDC transacting, with stablecoin supply reaching USD 17.3 billion on September 25.
Final Thoughts
Growing transaction volumes on Solana and stablecoin transactions show rising blockchain usage, but much of this growth is driven by automated trading. Coverage is a better adoption measure than the number of transactions when you compare active addresses, non-vote transactions, network fees, and payment activity. Sustainable user adoption and utility will continue to be key metrics of Solana's long-term network growth.
FAQs:
1. What do active addresses indicate about Solana adoption?
Active addresses measure the number of wallet addresses interacting with Solana during a specific period. However, one user can control multiple wallets, so active addresses do not represent unique users.
2. How many transactions did Solana process in September 2026?
Solana processed approximately 3.18 billion non-vote transactions in September 2026, increasing 8.3% from August. Third-quarter transactions reached 8.78 billion, marking 23.3% quarterly growth.
3. How do transaction fees affect Solana network adoption?
Solana's low transaction fees make token transfers, decentralized trading, and blockchain applications more affordable. However, network fee revenue can fluctuate depending on trading activity and transaction demand.
4. How much of Solana's trading activity comes from automated bots?
According to Bitquery's October 2026 research, automated wallets accounted for approximately 66% to 77% of decentralized exchange swaps. These wallets represented only 1% to 3% of traders.
5. How does stablecoin activity reflect real Solana network usage?
Stablecoin transactions indicate Solana's use for digital payments, transfers, and decentralized financial services beyond speculative trading. Solana's stablecoin supply reached approximately USD 17.3 billion on September 25, 2026.
