Cook Islands Triathlon Association is excited about its upcoming event – the Uncle Tom’s & PTS Adventure Race – this Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Association president Roland Neururer said: “What will be a hugely fun and exciting afternoon, could be dramatic if there is some rainfall which would make the mountain bike trail very boggy.”
“Spectators will be able to take some fantastic muddy shots of all our competitors!”
The event is an adventure race which breaks away from the usual triathlon disciplines, and sees the athletes battling a 1.2 kilometre Stand Up Paddle Board Course and 18km Mountain Bike Ride, which crosses some of the inland areas, the bush and the water intakes. There are two breaks in the mountain bike ride and competitors need to run a 1.8km and 1.5km hill section.
Neururer thanked the sponsors for their continued support.
“Grateful thanks to Uncle Toms and PTS as the main sponsor, The Bond Store for their generous sponsorship of prizes, the Raina Family for graciously allowing CITAI the use of the area behind Enua Manea Hall to host the event and Ian Karika for opening Takitumu reserve for us.”
Entry is free for members and registrations are welcome from all men and women over 16 years, either as an individual or a team.
“Please note that due to the nature of the course this race isn’t suitable for children to participate but we encourage you all to come along and cheer on your friends and families,” Neururer said.
“We would appreciate all competitors to enter by email to [email protected] by 4pm on Friday 23rd October 2026.”
