A truly scary scene unfolded before Saturday’s college football game between UT San Antonio and Navy. The matchup was UTSA’s annual Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans game.
For the occasion, four military members were schedule to rappel down from the stadium rafters. But one of the military officers fell from the rafters, falling to the ground at jaw-dropping speed. Once he impacted the ground, medical personnel rushed to his aid.
The ceiling of the Alamodome is reportedly 170 feet high. The officer was transported to a local hospital. As of right now, it’s unclear what the condition of the officer is. Rumors on social media have circulated, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

UTSA posted a statement on the situation midway through the game, with wording that was considered “vague” by many fans.
“We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at the start of tonight’s football game. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the soldier who was affected, his family and his military colleagues.
We recognize that members of our campus community may be emotionally affected by this incident and are activating wellbeing services to support our faculty, staff and students.”
This is a developing story.
