PRAIRIE VIEW - Prairie View A&M ended a two-game losing streak, holding off Alcorn State for a 41-38 victory Saturday at Panther Stadium at Blackshear Field.
Ethan Eddins' 37-yard field goal with 1:56 left provided the final margin in a back-and-forth game that saw four lead changes or ties in the second half.
The Panthers (3-5. 3-2 SWAC) had lost consecutive conference games that were decided in the fourth quarter, but beat the Braves (4-4, 2-2) behind a big game from quarterback Tevin Carter.
Carter was 14-of-18 for 150 yards and passed for two touchdowns and also added a pair of scoring runs.
That helped Prairie View overcome a huge day by Alcorn quarterback Jaylon Colbert, who threw for 356 yards and five TDs.
