KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's granddaughter Ally Mukhris shared a special moment between her two month-old son Eden and the former prime minister during an aqiqah ceremony.
The Instagram post showed Dr Mahathir, her father Datuk Seri Mukhris and their extended family at the gathering.
The aqiqah is a religious ritual performed by Muslims when a child is born.
Ally said she missed her late grandmother Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali's presence at the gathering.
Ally uploaded 12 photographs from the gathering, several of which showed Dr Mahathir with members of his family.
In her caption, Ally said the afternoon included a speech by her father in honour of her late grandmother.
"The afternoon was beautiful with a short tahlil and speech from my dad honouring my late grandmother.
"Her absence was definitely felt. We miss you so much, Tok," she wrote.
Ally also said that Dr Siti Hasmah had lent the family her "special golden scissors" before her death.
"Thank you for lending us your special golden scissors before you passed," she shared.
The post also included photographs of Dr Mahathir, who appeared alongside family members, carrying Eden, during the Aqiqah ceremony.
Dr Siti Hasmah, a pioneering doctor, died at the National Heart Institute on Sept 28, aged 100.
