Capital alone cannot ensure a company’s long-term success; strong corporate governance and trust among stakeholders are equally vital, Infosys co-founder S.D. Shibulal said on Saturday.
“Capital is important, but what we will build from that investment is far more important,” he said, addressing the first Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) Invest India Summit, organised by the Bengaluru Chapter of the ICSI, according to a press release.
Emphasising the importance of ethical business practices, Mr. Shibulal said no company could sustain itself without the highest standards of corporate governance and stakeholder trust. He urged professionals to act as a guiding voice in boardrooms and promote the holistic development of all stakeholders.
The summit, held on the theme “Building a Viksit Bharat Through Strategic Investments”, brought together investors, startups, industry representatives, and other stakeholders to discuss India’s evolving investment landscape and the role of governance in helping businesses scale up. C.S. Vishwas Hegde, chairman, ICSI - Bengaluru Chapter, also addressed the gathering.
