Agartala, Oct 16: Candidates who qualified the Tripura Teacher Eligibility Test (TET-1) have suspended their agitation after the Tripura Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRBT) assured them that the merit and recommendation lists are expected to be published in November-December.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, a representative of the aspirants said the board had assured them that eligible candidates would not be deprived of employment. The board also said it would make every effort to complete the recruitment process within the stipulated timeframe.
“We have been assured that deserving candidates will get jobs and that no one will be deprived. The board has informed us that it is trying to complete the process and publish the merit and recommendation lists by November-December,” the representative said.
Following the assurance, the aspirants announced the suspension of all forms of agitation, including protests and press conferences, from Friday. They expressed confidence that the recruitment process would be completed as promised.
The candidates said they expected the recommendation list to be published by December. However, they acknowledged that the board had committed to making every effort to meet the timeline.
The representative also expressed regret to the TRBT chairman for any misunderstanding or inconvenience caused during the protest.
He said many candidates might not have fully understood the recruitment process. He added that better communication from the board at an earlier stage could have prevented the hunger strike.
The aspirants said they were withdrawing all planned protest programmes in good faith, while expressing hope that the board would honour its commitment and complete the recruitment process within the promised period.
