The NFC East has become one of the NFL’s most disappointing divisions through the first six weeks of the 2026 season, with all four teams posting negative point differentials heading into Week 7.
Despite featuring several high-profile teams and players, the division has struggled to find consistency on both sides of the ball. The New York Giants currently lead the standings at 3-2-1, while the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys sit at 2-4. The Washington Commanders are last at 1-4-1.

With one team guaranteed to win the division and host a playoff game, the early numbers paint a concerning picture of a division that could potentially produce a champion with a losing record.

Eagles and Cowboys struggle to find answers
The Philadelphia Eagles began the season with consecutive victories but have since lost four straight games, marking the first time head coach Nick Sirianni has experienced such a losing streak with the team.
Their problems have been compounded by the loss of starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, who will reportedly miss the remainder of the season with blood clots in his lungs. Philadelphia now faces the challenge of salvaging its campaign without its most important offensive player.
The Dallas Cowboys have also struggled, particularly over their past two games. Dallas has managed just 29 total points across consecutive losses, raising questions about the team’s ability to compete consistently.
Owner Jerry Jones has suggested he could be active ahead of the trade deadline, while maintaining that he believes the team remains in a good position. The Cowboys will have an opportunity to respond in Week 7 when they face the struggling Eagles.

Giants and Commanders face major setbacks

Despite sitting atop the division, the Giants have dealt with significant quarterback problems of their own. Jaxson Dart suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams, forcing New York to turn to Jameis Winston for its next four games.
The Giants are now preparing to start J.J. McCarthy in their Week 7 road matchup against the Houston Texans as they attempt to maintain their position in the standings.
Meanwhile, Washington will have a bye in Week 7 before facing Philadelphia the following week. The Commanders have struggled to close out winnable games, with late-game coaching and quarterback mistakes contributing to their disappointing start.
Their problems have worsened with wide receiver Terry McLaurin suffering a torn patellar tendon in the Week 6 loss to San Francisco.
With injuries mounting and results falling short, the NFC East has plenty to prove. For now, the division’s negative point differentials tell a story of four teams searching for answers.
