Apple has warned customers that the new iPhone Duo may be difficult to buy in stores on launch day due to limited stock and strong demand. The foldable smartphone will go on sale on Friday, October 23, 2026, but customers planning to purchase it without a pre-order may face difficulties.
According to Apple, demand for the iPhone Duo has been extraordinary since pre-orders opened last week. The company expects the limited stock available for walk-in customers to sell out quickly.
The warning means buyers who have not secured a pre-order may need to reserve a device online or wait for additional stock.
Apple Confirms Limited Walk-In Availability for iPhone Duo
Apple will offer limited walk-in stock in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom.
Some Apple Stores in Italy will also offer the device to walk-in customers, although the company has not identified the locations. In Macao, walk-in purchases will be available only on launch day, with limited inventory.
However, customers in France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates will not be able to purchase the iPhone Duo as walk-in buyers on launch day.
Instead, customers in these markets will need to book a pickup time through Apple’s online store. The store has currently advised customers to check again on Saturday, October 24, leaving some uncertainty about whether pickup reservations will become available on launch day itself.
Apple Takes Steps to Control Demand
Apple’s restrictions appear aimed at managing crowds and limiting purchases by resellers who may try to buy devices in large quantities and sell them at higher prices.
The company has also limited iPhone Duo purchases to two units per customer. This measure is intended to give more buyers a chance to purchase the foldable phone rather than allowing a small number of customers to acquire large quantities.
There is some positive news for customers who have already placed pre-orders. Apple has moved up estimated shipping dates for many buyers after delivery estimates previously extended as far as January 2027.
The change suggests that some customers may receive their devices sooner than initially expected, although availability will depend on their individual orders.
iPhone Duo Specifications and Features
The iPhone Duo is Apple’s new foldable smartphone and comes with two LTPO OLED displays. Its inner screen measures 7.6 inches and offers a resolution of 1,878 x 2,670 pixels, while the 5.4-inch cover display has a resolution of 1,398 x 2,034 pixels. Both screens support a 120Hz refresh rate.
The device runs on Apple’s A20 Pro chipset and includes 12GB of RAM. Buyers can choose configurations with up to 2TB of internal storage.
For photography, the phone features a 48MP main camera with sensor-shift optical image stabilisation and a 48MP ultrawide camera. It also includes a 12MP selfie camera on the cover display and a 4MP under-display camera on the inner screen.
The iPhone Duo packs a 4,883mAh battery and supports 25W MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging. Other features include an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and Apple’s iOS 27.1 software.
iPhone Duo Price
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the United States. Its starting price is €2,299 in Germany and £1,999 in the United Kingdom.
With strong demand and limited walk-in availability, customers who want the foldable iPhone may need to act quickly. Those who have not placed a pre-order should check Apple’s online store for pickup reservations and future stock updates before visiting a retail location.
