Train services between Rambukkana and Gampola via Peradeniya will be suspended from midnight today (25) until further notice due to a landslide near Kadigamuwa railway station, the Railway Department said.
The landslide, triggered by adverse weather conditions, has caused soil to spill onto the railway line between Rambukkana and Peradeniya.
Although emergency repairs were carried out yesterday (24) and today to restore the railway line, the risk of further landslides remains high due to continued heavy rainfall in the area, the department said.
Accordingly, all train services on the affected section will remain suspended until repairs are completed and the line is confirmed safe for operations.
Passengers who have reserved seats on trains scheduled to operate during the suspension period can obtain a full refund at any railway station, the department added.
