Tripura University has set up an Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Corner at its Central Library to provide students and research scholars with resources on India’s traditional knowledge heritage and encourage its study in contemporary academic settings.
The facility was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Debabrata Das on October 12. The initiative was organised by the university’s Central Library in collaboration with Vidya Bharati Uchha Shiksha Sansthan, Tripura.
The IKS Corner is intended to provide a dedicated space for students and researchers to explore India’s intellectual traditions and examine their relevance to teaching, learning and research. It is also expected to facilitate academic engagement with traditional knowledge systems and their potential applications in contemporary education.
Tripura University Finance Officer Debashish Pal and Librarian Dr Champeswar Mishra attended the inauguration, along with faculty members, university staff, students, research scholars and other dignitaries.
The facility will also support students preparing for the Bharat BoudhIKS 2.0 National Level Examination on Indian Knowledge Systems, scheduled to be held on November 21, 2026. The examination will be conducted across colleges and universities in the country.
Preparatory materials available at the Corner are expected to help candidates familiarise themselves with the subject and prepare for the examination. The facility will thus serve both as an academic resource and as a support centre for students taking part in the national-level test.
The university said the initiative was aimed at familiarising its academic community with India’s traditional knowledge heritage and providing resources for further study and research.
The collaboration between the Central Library and Vidya Bharati Uchha Shiksha Sansthan, Tripura, has facilitated the establishment of the dedicated facility within the university library.
The IKS Corner is expected to encourage students and research scholars to engage with traditional knowledge systems through academic study and examine their relevance to present-day educational practices.
