The Golden State Warriors open the 2026-27 NBA season on Wednesday, Oct. 21 on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers, so in their spare time before then, they made sure to show up and support their in-arena neighbors in the WNBA Finals. Stephen Curry and Yaxel Lendeborg were on hand representing the Warriors for Game 2 of the WNBA Finals between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream.

The Valkyries took Game 1 against the Dream in a close one, pulling off an 68-64 win. They hold a 1-o lead in the best-of-seven series. Following Game 2, the series will shift to the Dream’s home court for Games 3 and 4.
This isn’t the first time that Warriors players have been on hand to show support for the Valkyries. Brandin Podziemski is a regular at Chase Center for WNBA season sitting courtside, especially during the team’s inaugural season last year. For Game 1 of the WNBA Finals, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Yaxel Lendeborg, Moses Moody, Will Richard and even head coach Steve Kerr were in attendance.
And Curry recently warmed up during a Warriors preseason game wearing Valkyries’ guard Veronica Burton’s jersey.
The Valkyries are also owned by Joe Lacob, the Warriors owner and architect of the franchise‘s four NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. The Valkyries are seeking their first championship in franchise history, in only their second year of existence.
They were an expansion team last season under head coach Natalie Nakase, and made the playoffs as the No. 8 seed in the WNBA standings. This year, the Valkyries finished with the No. 2 seed and dispatched the defending champion Las Vegas Aces in a sweep to reach the Finals.
