From an idea developed during COVID, to an international pet travel network connecting New York with destinations across the United States, the UK and Europe, K9 JETS has experienced a remarkable rise. The British-based company launched its first pet-dedicated, pay-per-seat private jet flight in 2023. Today, K9 JETS has flown more than 10,000 passengers and their dogs and cats, allowing families to cross continents with their pets beside them in the aircraft cabin.
And New York has been at the heart of the story. Operating from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, just outside Manhattan, K9 JETS now connects New York, Los Angeles, Florida, Toronto and Vancouver with destinations throughout Europe, creating an entirely different way for Americans to travel internationally with their four-legged family members.
For founder Adam Golder, the company’s growth still feels extraordinary. “K9 JETS really did start from a call with a prospective client from NYC called Paul Marran, wanting to share a charter jet for a group of pet owners: there had to be a better way for people to travel internationally with their pets who have met online,” says Golder.
From Britain to New York
K9 JETS was founded in Britain by Adam and Kirsty Golder after identifying growing demand from pet owners who wanted an alternative to transporting their animals in an aircraft’s cargo hold. The concept was straightforward but, at the time, unusual: charter a private aircraft and sell individual seats rather than requiring customers to charter the entire jet.
One passenger. One seat. Their pets beside them.
The first K9 JETS flight departed Teterboro for the UK in April 2023, carrying passengers and their pets across the Atlantic. Demand quickly demonstrated that the idea extended far beyond a small niche of private aviation customers.Three years later, and thanks to a small, dedicated, talented team, K9 JETS has transported more than 10,000 passengers and pets across its international network.
Private Jet Travel – Without Chartering the Whole Aircraft
K9 JETS changed the model by introducing a shared, pay-per-seat service. Passengers purchase an individual seat on a pre-arranged private jet flight, Dogs can remain beside their owners throughout the journey, while cats travel in suitable carriers.
Passengers receive many of the advantages associated with private aviation — private terminals, smaller passenger numbers and a more relaxed experience — without having to charter the entire aircraft. For people relocating internationally, spending several months overseas or simply unwilling to put their pet in the cargo hold, this has created another option.
Teterboro: The Heart of K9 JETS’ American Network
For K9 JETS, Teterboro has developed into a major gateway. Located just outside Manhattan, the private aviation airport connects K9 JETS passengers with destinations on both sides of the United States and across the Atlantic.
K9 JETS flies between Teterboro and Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, giving pet owners a private aviation alternative for coast-to-coast travel. Its transatlantic network is even larger. K9 JETS operates weekly flights connecting New York and London, in addition to regular services connecting Teterboro with seven European cities every month.
More Than 10,000 Passengers and Pets
The passengers themselves are almost as varied as the destinations. K9 JETS has welcomed everything from tiny puppies and cats to Labradors, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Great Pyrenees and giant breeds that can make conventional air travel particularly challenging.
And the atmosphere onboard is very different from a conventional commercial flight. Dogs settle beside their owners. Passengers get to know one another. Pets meet their fellow four-legged frequent flyers.
New York to London – With Your Dog Beside You
The New York-London connection has become one of K9 JETS’ signature routes. Weekly services provide greater flexibility for families relocating between the United States and UK, as well as those travelling for extended stays, work assignments and holidays. The experience is designed around passengers travelling with animals from the outset rather than attempting to accommodate pets within an aviation model designed primarily for humans.
International pet travel still requires preparation. Depending on the destination, owners may need veterinary documentation, health certificates, microchips, vaccinations and other country-specific paperwork. But once those formalities have been completed, the journey itself is deliberately straightforward. Passengers arrive at a private aviation terminal rather than a conventional airline check-in hall, complete the required formalities and board the aircraft with their pets.
Seven European Cities Every Month
London is only part of the story. K9 JETS’ growing European network means passengers can also fly between New York and seven European cities every month, giving pet owners far greater choice when planning an international relocation or extended stay.
The Pet Travel Revolution Takes Off From Teterboro
What started with an idea during COVID has become an international pet-focused aviation service with New York at the center of its American operation. In just a few years, K9 JETS has gone from launching its first transatlantic service to carrying more than 10,000 passengers and pets around the world. The concept can be explained in a few words: private jets, individual seats and pets in the cabin.
But the reason behind its success may be even simpler. For the growing number of people who regard their pets as members of the family, K9 JETS has created a way for the whole family to fly together. Travel with confidence and book your flight today.
