The Nuclear Technology Information Center of Uzbekistan's Uzatom Agency has expanded its educational outreach activities, conducting sessions for schoolchildren and teachers in Gulistan and Nukus. The initiative focuses on providing information about the peaceful use of nuclear energy, its applications in different sectors and educational and career opportunities related to nuclear technologies.
The programs were organized according to students' age groups and levels of education. Primary school pupils were introduced to the basic structure of the atom, fundamental principles of nuclear energy and its potential role in Uzbekistan's energy sector. Middle school students studied nuclear chain reactions and their applications in modern technologies.
For high school students and teachers, the sessions covered a broader range of topics, including nuclear power generation, nuclear medicine, radiation safety, engineering and other technology-related fields. Participants also received information about the use of nuclear technologies in energy production, medical treatment and safety, as well as potential career paths in the nuclear industry.
One of the sessions featured a lecture by Professor Damir Zaredinov, Chief Radiologist of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Health and Doctor of Medical Sciences.
According to the Uzatom Agency, conducting educational sessions directly in schools is intended to make information about nuclear technologies more accessible to students and teachers. The initiative also aims to strengthen connections between educational institutions, the scientific community and the nuclear industry.
Through these activities, the agency seeks to encourage interest in science and engineering, support students in making informed career decisions and promote awareness of radiation safety. The educational outreach program forms part of Uzatom's efforts to introduce younger generations to nuclear technologies and support the development of future specialists in Uzbekistan's nuclear sector.
