(ANSA) - ROME, 21 OTT - The interior ministry is identifying truckers in order to clear fuel-cost-protest blockades that are threatening to bring much of southern Italy to a standstill, Business and Made in Italy Minister Adolfo Urso told the Lower House Wednesday.
Regarding the road blockades by truck drivers in the South, "the Interior Ministry reports that it is in the process of identifying individuals, with the aim of clearing the protest site," Urso said.
"Preventing the passage of trucks while allowing cars to pass still constitutes a road blockade—an offense that carries criminal penalties, including imprisonment. It is significant—indeed, emblematic—that the transport associations themselves are asking us, and the Interior Ministry, to have these blockades removed." (ANSA).
