KUALA LUMPUR: Independent mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron–Lai Pei Jing secured back-to-back semi-final appearances in Europe after halting Germany's giantkillers Marvin Seidel–Thuc Phuong Nguyen at the French Open on Friday.
World No. 31 Pang Ron–Pei Jing defeated world No. 27 Seidel–Phuong Nguyen 21-17, 20-22, 21-18 in their quarter-final at Arena Grand Paris.
The victory built on their Denmark Open semi-final appearance last week and ended the Germans' run after they had eliminated Malaysia's Goh Soon Huat–Shevon Lai and China's second seeds Jiang Zhen Bang–Wei Ya Xin in the opening two rounds.
Pang Ron-Pei Jing will face China's sixth seeds Guo Xin Wa-Cheng Fang Hui next.
