After a strong turnout last weekend, the Mayor’s Clean-Up Campaign continues in Katutura East tomorrow.
This time activities will centre on the Gemeente Bus Stop and Shanghai Street. Last weekend, young and old residents gathered near the constituency office.
Youth participation was particularly strong, and the clean-up covered areas across the constituency, including the Sonder Water area behind Shandumbala.
Windhoek Councillor Jesaja Ikali thanked residents for taking part and urged them to keep it up. “Our children learn from what we do. If we teach them cleanliness today, they will grow up to respect and protect the environment,” he said after the first event.
The City of Windhoek is calling on residents to come out in numbers and join the mayor. It says the campaign is part of its drive to reclaim Windhoek’s status as one of Africa’s cleanest cities.
“Together, we can keep our communities clean, healthy, and welcoming for all,” reads the City’s call to residents. “Your participation makes a difference. Let us work together to keep Windhoek clean.”
