Texas Tech football coach Joey McGuire has confirmed that wide receiver Donte Lee Jr. suffered a season-ending knee injury during the Red Raiders' 29-7 victory on Oct. 3 at Colorado.
Lee's a fifth-year senior in his first year with the Red Raiders. He played in five games and caught 4 passes for 15 yards. The Red Raiders thought after watching the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Baltimore Dunbar graduate in spring and preseason practices that he could be a vertical pass-game threat.

McGuire said during his weekly press conference on Monday, Oct. 19, that Lee suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
"It was the strangest [circumstances]," McGuire said. "Of course, it was non-contact, but we all — even Donte was like, 'Man, I don't know exactly when it happened.' You can't see where his foot gets stuck. He ends up getting contact because he got tackled, but you can't see anything, so it was a really strange injury."
Lee was listed as the top backup to starting outside receiver Micah Hudson. Now sophomore Bryson Jones is in that spot.
Lee transferred to Tech in January after playing two years at Shaw, an NCAA Division II program in Raleigh, North Carolina, and two years at Liberty, a Conference USA program in Lynchburg, Virginia.
