All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora addressed the ongoing demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Speaking on the unity of opposition and student groups, Bora asserted, "It's we the people against the BJP." She rejected labels such as "Andolan Jeevi" and "Dimagi Naxal," stating that government repression has consolidated diverse groups into a united front to protect democratic values. Emphasising the fundamental significance of universal adult franchise, she argued that mismanagement of the electoral roll compromises the democratic mandate of common citizens. Bora denied allegations that student protests cause anarchy, pointing instead to train cancellations, metro shutdowns, barricades, and security crackdowns by the state. Defending demonstrations across public locations, she maintained that the Constitution guarantees citizens the right to protest without requiring permission from authorities that restrict democratic spaces.

CJP Leaders Arrested Over Jantar Mantar Flash Stir, Produced In Court
Delhi Police have placed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka, and Ajinkya Shinde under preventive arrest following an unauthorised flash protest at Jantar Mantar. The stir occurred after authorities denotified Jantar Mantar as a designated protest venue. The leaders, along with supporters carrying the national flag, allegedly breached barricades and climbed locked gates. Police registered an FIR against them for trespassing, citing allegations of scaling gates near the Janata Dal (United) office. Authorities are also probing whether the demonstration breached a one-year peace bond reportedly signed by the leaders during earlier detentions. CJP representatives contested the police claim, maintaining that no such peace bond was executed and defending their right to demonstrate. Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged that the detained leaders were held unlawfully, denied access to legal counsel, and had their phones confiscated. The arrested leaders are being produced before an executive magistrate.
Amit Shah Slams Rahul Gandhi Over SIR Row; INDIA Bloc Vows Anti-CEC Fight
A major political clash has erupted between the BJP and the Congress over the INDIA bloc's campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly criticised Rahul Gandhi, urging him to introspect on repeated electoral defeats rather than blaming the Special Intensive Revision process, which began only after 2024. Shah accused the Congress leader of using the controversy to shield infiltrators and predicted a fourth consecutive defeat for the party in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. On the other hand, the Congress and opposition parties hit back, with Pawan Khera questioning whether Shah's 2029 prediction relies on the current poll chief remaining in office. Rahul Gandhi affirmed that the opposition's agitation will persist until the Chief Election Commissioner resigns, asserting that the democratic movement will continue. Meanwhile, sources suggest large street demonstrations are on hold until Dussehra due to the ongoing festive season.

JNU Row Snowballs Over Harassment Allegations, Congress MP Hits Back as BJP Petitions President
A major controversy has erupted following sexual harassment allegations against Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam leading to his dismissal from Jawaharlal Nehru University. In an interview with India Today, Akoijam denied the charges, including allegations of sex for marks, and challenged the inquiry panel while asserting that statutory bodies had been turned into a khap panchayat. He stated that he would quit Parliament if the charges were proven true. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor defended him, calling the action unjust and politically driven. Meanwhile, 15 BJP women MPs, led by D. Purandeswari, submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu seeking referral to the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, Akoijam's suspension pending inquiry, protection and privacy for the complainant students, and swift legal action. The BJP has also questioned the silence of the Congress leadership on the issue.
