Georgian Tamar Lortkipanidze has been released from prison on a plea deal after serving one year. Lortpikandze was arrested after climbing onto a police car during an anti-government protest in October 2025. She was charged with attacking a police vehicle and committing a criminal offence against a police officer in connection with the officer’s official duties. She has been handed a three-year suspended sentence.
Her release on Wednesday comes amid a series of plea agreements in cases related to protests in Georgia. In a separate case linked to the 4 October 2025 demonstration in Tbilisi, six convicted protesters were released from prison on 16 October following plea agreements.
The plea agreement was approved by a court on 30 June, independent media outlet Netgazeti reported. On that day, Lortkipanidze was found guilty and sentenced to one year in prison and a further three years of probation. The time she spent in pre-trial detention since October 2025 was absorbed by the sentence.

Protest-related legislation in Georgia was significantly tightened after daily anti-government demonstrations began in November 2024, following the ruling party’s decision to ‘postpone’ the country’s EU membership bid to 2028.
