KT (030200.KS) said on the 14th that it is launching dedicated artificial intelligence lines supporting bandwidth of up to 800 gigabits per second to meet demand for transferring large volumes of data.
"In step with the rapid growth in demand for AI data transfers, we have expanded dedicated line bandwidth from a previous maximum of about 100Gbps to as much as 400Gbps and 800Gbps," KT said. "Our infrastructure strengths, including nationwide optical cable coverage of 840,000 kilometers and diversified routes, allow us to design optimal shortest and dual paths between multiple data centers or sites, minimizing latency and ensuring stability." The company said that even when AI data centers are spread across the country, large volumes of data can be reliably linked and transferred between them.
KT also said it applied an APN-based, optics-centered network structure to strengthen the ultra-low-latency characteristics of the AI dedicated lines. APN is a technology that reduces latency by minimizing conversions between optical and electrical signals along the data transmission path.
KT plans to broaden adoption of the AI dedicated lines among AI data center operators and companies building large-scale AI infrastructure. "The more AI data centers and graphics processing unit infrastructure expand, the more important ultra-fast, ultra-low-latency networks will become," a KT official said. "Through AI dedicated lines, KT will help customers build and scale large-scale AI transformation infrastructure quickly and flexibly."
