Celebrity Beauty

Halloween is on the horizon, which means the costume hunt is reaching a crescendo. If dressing up as a niche fashion reference last-minute isn’t your thing (so you’re telling me that you don’t want to dress up as Marc Jacobs in a neck brace at his spring/summer 2004 afterparty?), or if kooky costumes make you cringe, then perhaps you’ll be willing consider a more subtle nod to the season. Like Dua Lipa’s latest manicure.
At the opening night of Lincoln in the Bardo at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the singer ditched her signature black nails for an emerald cat-eye set, the work of celebrity nail artist Mei Kawajiri. A play on velvet nails, Lipa’s dark jewelled tone conjured up poisoned candy apples, a bubbling witch’s brew – even a serpent’s scales. A perfect way for the fancy dress avoidant to subtly Halloween-ify their look.

Celebrity favourite Kawajiri’s feed is actually a treasure trove of Halloween nail inspiration. There’s her red-scented smoke nails – even a sculpted avocado set. Not to mention the horizontal French tip nails she recently painted on Sienna Spiro, which would make for a great addition to a Midas touch-inspired costume.
