Apple has launched its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, in India. The 256GB model costs Rs. 2,99,900. Demand is high. According to Reuters, pre-orders sold out within minutes, and some delivery dates now stretch to January 2027.
Stock Is Short and Deliveries Are Slow
Getting the phone is hard right now. Apple Stores in India are only serving people who already have an online order. Walk-in buyers are being turned away. Besides the 256GB model, the phone comes in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB versions. There are two colors: Star White and Night Sky.

A Large Display with Premium Hardware
The phone has a 7.6-inch screen inside and a 5.4-inch screen outside. Both run at 120Hz and reach 3,000 nits of brightness in sunlight. The large screen suits games, videos, and work with more than one app open.
The A20 Pro chip runs the phone. At the back, there are two 48-megapixel cameras. Apple says the battery gives up to 31 hours of video on the inner screen and up to 44 hours on the outer one. The body is made of titanium, with tough glass on top. It also has an IP68 rating, so it can handle water and dust.
There are some downsides. The phone has no telephoto lens, so zooming in on far objects will be weaker. Some apps are not yet set up for the folding screen. Apple has also chosen Touch ID over Face ID. When folded, the phone is 11.3mm thick and weighs 254 grams, which is heavier than most phones.
Think Before You Buy
The iPhone Duo is a bold first step for Apple, and the early rush shows people want it. But the price is very high, and the delivery wait could be long. No one knows yet how the hinge and the folding screen will hold up after months of daily use. That will only become clear with time.
If you are thinking of buying one, compare it with a regular flagship phone first. You may get a better camera and a lighter phone for far less money.
