Hana Bank said on the 12th that it has been named Best Sub-Custodian Bank in Korea for 2026 by Global Finance, a global financial and economic magazine.
Sub-custody refers to services that support the settlement, safekeeping and asset management of domestic securities for foreign investors and global financial institutions. Hana Bank won the award on the strength of its stable settlement and custody infrastructure, its risk management capabilities and its client service. The award ceremony was held in Miami on Sept. 29.
Building on the award, Hana Bank plans to improve foreign investors' access to Korea's capital markets and upgrade its custody services in line with the government's policy to internationalize the won. The government is working to boost won liquidity services by improving foreign investors' access to the domestic securities market and by adding custody services to the range of business permitted for foreign exchange institutions.
Hana Bank has been upgrading its client systems in response to recent changes in Korea's stock and foreign exchange markets and to the push to attract more overseas investors. Internal system improvements have already been completed, and the external system is set to launch soon. The bank said the upgrades will make trading more convenient for foreign investors and help strengthen international confidence in Korea's capital markets.
"This award shows that the sub-custody expertise we have built up over the years and our client-focused operations have been recognized in the global market," an official at Hana Bank said. "We will continue to serve faithfully as a reliable gateway to Korea's capital markets."
