The ALCS continues Sunday, as the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians face off in Game 5 at Progressive Field, with first pitch set for 5:08 p.m. ET. The ALCS is tied 2-2 heading into Game 5, with this set to be the last matchup in Cleveland before the series heads back to Tropicana Field.
Sunday was originally scheduled to be an off day for the ALCS, but heavy rain forced Game 4 of the series to be postponed — so, we've got some (relatively) impromptu Sunday baseball!
The Rays are set to start right-hander Drew Rasmussen (16-5, 2.67 ERA), making his second start of the series. In Game 1, he struck out 7 while allowing 8 hits and 2 earned runs over six innings, with both runs coming on solo homers by Chase DeLauter and Patrick Bailey.
The Guardians will start rookie left-hander Parker Messick (12-9, 2.56 ERA), also set to make his second start of the series. In Game 2, Messick tossed three scoreless innings before an error by All-Star José Ramírez opened the door for the Rays in the fourth. Tampa Bay scored three unearned runs in the inning, and Cleveland never recovered, dropping a 3-1 decision for its first loss of the series.
