The private initiative is intended to be part of a multi-level air defense system operating under the relevant air commands of the Ukrainian Air Force (UAF) that coordinate air defense activity where they are based. The company and the military coordinate the areas of operation, allocation of personnel and the necessary equipment, weapons and other means.
The Defense Ministry announced that, as of Oct. 14, 2026, these groups have destroyed more than 60 air targets, including Russian reconnaissance and attack drones. The first confirmed shoot downs of aerial targets, including a jet-powered “Shahed” drone, were in the Kharkiv region in March and April this year as reported by the then Defense Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov.
Along with the groups that are already performing combat missions a large number are at various stages of training, acquiring the necessary weaponry and preparing to deploy.
