Oregon football is having a nightmare season so far, but they are still hanging around on the outer fringes of the College Football Playoff race. The Ducks continued to do just that on Saturday night, taking down a feisty Nebraska team 17-14 in Eugene to improve to 4-2 on the season.
Starting quarterback Dante Moore didn’t play in this game while he continues to recover from a concussion that he suffered against USC. Backup Dylan Raiola also didn’t start after he was benched last week in a loss to UCLA, leaving it up to Brock Thomas under center for Dan Lanning and company.
Thomas couldn’t get anything going with the Oregon offense in the first three quarters, as the ducks trailed 14-6 heading into the final frame thanks to some miscues of their own on both sides of the ball. Lanning had enough and inserted Raiola into the game to lead the comeback against his former team, and the former five-star quarterback delivered.

The two-year Nebraska starter led Oregon on a pair of scoring drives, capping off the final one with a game-winning touchdown to Jamari Johnson, to give the Ducks a 17-14 win. After the game, he showed love to his former team while shouting out his new Oregon squad for getting the job done in front of their home crowd, via Mitch Sherman of The Athletic.
“I love Nebraska. That was my home,” Raiola said. “But it was about Oregon tonight. We went out there and did what we needed to do.”
Of course, this is a nightmare scenario for Nebraska. Raiola was up-and-down during his two seasons in Lincoln before a broken leg ended his 2025 season. He departed in the transfer portal last spring, and now he has his revenge moment on his former team.
It remains to be seen when Oregon will get Moore back and who will start at quarterback between Raiola and Thomas if Moore misses more games. Oregon has another tough test coming next week when it goes on the road to take on Illinois on Oct. 24.
