LAHORE – Lahore will host Basant celebrations from March 12 to 14, 2027, under a fresh notification issued by the district administration after receiving approval from the Punjab government.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Ali Ijaz issued the latest order, marking the third notification related to the festival, according to reports. Earlier, the government had announced plans for a 10-day celebration.
Under the revised schedule, kite flying will be allowed within Lahore’s district boundaries, subject to restrictions in specified areas where the activity remains prohibited.
The administration has also imposed conditions on the materials used for kite flying. Participants will be required to use only kites and strings that comply with government-prescribed standards.
The notification permits the production of kites and kite strings from September 5, 2026, until March 14, 2027. Manufacturers must complete digital registration to take part in the production process.
Officials have emphasized that the celebrations must remain within the framework of the notified regulations. Residents, participants and manufacturers will be required to observe the applicable restrictions and conditions throughout the festival period.
