Arizona Cardinals fans have taken their campaign against Michael Bidwill off social media and onto the roadside. The owner is reportedly furious about it.
Two digital billboards now call on Bidwill to sell the team, paid for with more than $8,100 raised by Nathan Kropp, better known on X as @MrAzSports.
Chuck Harris of Cardswire reported Bidwill is “incredibly upset” over the #BidwillOut campaign, and told fans to keep the pressure on.
Arizona Cardinals fans fund billboards calling on Michael Bidwill to sell
The messages are blunt. One reads: “Michael. Please sell the team #BIDWILLOUT Signed, The Fans.” Another says: “SELL THE TEAM, Funded by Cardinals Fans, #BIDWILLOUT.”
One sits on westbound Loop 202 shortly before State Route 87, the other off Loop 303 in Surprise.
Kropp was moved to act by the Lions game in Week 5, when he felt more away fans were in State Farm Stadium than home ones. “And then I went on X, and people were just completely outraged,” he told FOX.
That defeat was Arizona’s ninth straight at home, the longest such run in franchise history. The Cardinals sit 2-4.
The frustration runs deeper than one season. The Bidwill family have owned the club since 1932, and Michael took over after his father Bill died in 2019. Arizona have posted one winning season since.
There is also the Fitzgerald row. Longtime beat writer Howard Balzer was barred from Larry Fitzgerald’s press conference before his Ring of Honor celebration.
“Yeah it’s not right and a really bad look,” one fan wrote. Another added: “What a disgrace of an owner. We all wish we had better!!” A third simply posted: “Another reason that #BidwillOut should happen!”
Arizona host Denver next, when Fitzgerald’s No. 11 is retired at halftime. Bidwill has not spoken to reporters since the groundbreaking of the team’s future facilities earlier this year.
