By Breaking Belize News Staff: At just 18 years old, Belizean-born Jahmanie Justice James is celebrating two major milestones: graduating from United States Air Force Basic Military Training and becoming a U.S. citizen.
Originally from Belize, James lived in Harmonyville for approximately five years before relocating to the United States in July 2024. Determined to build a promising future, she decided to pursue a career in the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduating from high school.
James signed her enlistment paperwork at just 17 years old and waited approximately eight months before departing for Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The experience was demanding but rewarding, according to the young Belizean, who recently completed her training and proudly earned the opportunity to serve in the U.S. military.
Adding to the significance of her achievement, James celebrated her 18th birthday in September while undergoing training and was the youngest trainee in her flight.
One of the most meaningful moments of her journey, she said, was becoming a United States citizen following her graduation.
For James, the accomplishment represents not only a personal victory but also a proud moment for her family, particularly her mother, who reached out to Breaking Belize News hoping to share her daughter’s success with the Belizean community.
James hopes her journey will encourage other young Belizeans to pursue their ambitions regardless of their age or circumstances.
“I hope my story inspires other young Belizeans to believe in themselves, work toward their dreams, and never allow their age or circumstances to limit what they believe they can achieve,” she said.
Reflecting on her journey from Belize to the United States Air Force, James shared a message of determination and encouragement.
“There is no obstacle I can’t overcome. I raised my right hand, and so can you!”
