T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach may have gotten their happy ending, but so have their exes.
Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig are engaged, PEOPLE confirmed Wednesday, just weeks after their former spouses reportedly tied the knot. The couple began dating in 2023 after finding comfort in each other while dealing with the dissolution of their marriages.
It’s quite the twist in a scandal that once made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Former Good Morning America 3 co-hosts Robach, 53, and Holmes, 49, married on Sept. 19, in an intimate ceremony in Washington County, Arkansas, according to USA Today. The pair’s marriage licence was recorded by the county clerk on Oct. 13.

‘Outed, not caught’
Their relationship became public in November 2022, when the Daily Mail published photos of the married co-workers getting cozy in New York City. The pair insisted they were “outed, not caught,” arguing they were already in the process of divorcing their respective spouses, according to Fox News.

Robach and Holmes later divorced Shue and Fiebig. But the scandal wasn’t without consequences. ABC News confirmed the following month that the controversial anchors would not return to GMA3: What You Need to Know, according to USA Today.
Ex-partners found something neither may have expected
Shue, 59, best known for his role on Melrose Place, and Fiebig, 49, an immigration attorney, first connected as friends in 2022, around the time the affair became public, according to Complex. As they worked through the end of their marriages, that friendship eventually turned romantic.
The Daily Mail first reported their romance in December 2023.
Shue and Robach were married from 2010 to 2023. Shue has three sons from his first marriage to floral designer Jennifer Hageney, while Robach has two daughters from a previous relationship, according to USA Today.
Fiebig married Holmes in 2010. They share a 13-year-old daughter, Sabine.
Looking back, Shue told PEOPLE he never expected things to work out this way.
‘There’s a happy ending’
“I don’t know how it happened, but there’s a happy ending,” he said. “… This just happened to be our way of getting to know each other and being able to share ourselves with each other in a time where we both needed a friend.”
He also acknowledged that the end of his marriage forced him to take a hard look at himself.
“I had to accept my own part in marriage not working out for me and in not understanding myself well enough and not understanding what matters in a relationship well enough to find the right person for me, and that has been an extraordinary gift,” Shue said.
Their story isn’t the first time a painful betrayal has led two former spouses to find love with each other.

Spouse swap
Canadian country superstar Shania Twain, 61, went through a similar experience after discovering her husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange, had been unfaithful with her close friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud.
Twain and Lange were married from 1993 to 2008 and share a 22-year-old son. The five-time Grammy winner eventually married Thiebaud’s former husband, Frederic Thiebaud, in 2011.
Twain has also made it clear she doesn’t hold on to hatred over the betrayal.
Speaking on the Great Company with Jamie Laing podcast in 2024, she said she had learned to forgive Lange.
“Do I hate my ex-husband for making a mistake? No. It’s his mistake. Not my mistake,” she said. “So sad for him that he made such a great mistake that he has to live with.”
