The governor said students and staff have been pushed to the brink, with morale among workers at a low and frustration spreading across the student body. He added that more than 200 employees have already lost their jobs as the university's troubles deepened.
"Mr. President, Moi University is going down on your watch. Students are frustrated, workers are depressed, and more than 200 employees have lost their jobs. The institution is in a total mess. Please, Mr. President, intervene and rescue this institution. It is one of the biggest educational institutions in our region. Don't watch it sink, Mr. President," Bii said.
Governor Raises Land and Housing Concerns
Beyond the university crisis, Bii used the occasion to press the national government on land matters affecting residents in the region.
He called on President Ruto to speed up the issuance of title deeds for farms in Uasin Gishu, a long-standing concern for many residents who lack formal documentation for land they occupy.
The governor also urged Kenyans to take up affordable housing opportunities as a means of preserving productive agricultural land from being converted for residential use.
He expressed appreciation for the support the national government has extended to the agricultural sector and reaffirmed the North Rift region's dedication to contributing to Kenya's economic development.
