Alex Scott to Liverpool? Bournemouth Set £100m January Valuation Amid Transfer Interest
Bournemouth are prepared to consider the sale of Alex Scott in January, although any deal would depend on two major conditions being met. As Metro first reported, the south coast club would only entertain an exit if an offer in the region of £100 million arrives and their Premier League position provides enough comfort to proceed.
That stance reflects Scott’s growing importance and his rising profile in English football. The 23-year-old enjoyed his strongest top-flight campaign last season and has since taken another step forward by breaking into the senior England set-up under Thomas Tuchel. His first two caps appear to have further underlined why leading clubs continue to monitor him so closely.
Liverpool and Chelsea retain Alex Scott interest
Liverpool and Chelsea were both linked heavily with Scott during the summer and those connections have not disappeared. Liverpool’s interest carries an obvious layer given Andoni Iraola is now head coach at Anfield after previously working with Scott at Bournemouth. The midfielder’s tactical flexibility, energy and ability to carry possession through central areas are qualities that would make sense for a number of elite sides.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are also credited with strong interest as they assess midfield options following Enzo Fernandez’s move to Manchester City. Scott has long been viewed as one of the most technically gifted young midfielders in the country, and there is a growing sense that Bournemouth may eventually have to make a decision on his future.
Bournemouth stance shaped by contract and league position
Bournemouth were not willing to sanction a departure after last season, particularly after Scott’s influence became clearer across the campaign. Even so, his current contract situation remains part of the wider picture. He is tied down until 2028 on the terms agreed when he joined from Bristol City in 2023, but reports indicate he has already turned down proposals to extend that deal.

There have now been fresh discussions between the club and the player’s camp, with Bournemouth understood to be more open to a potential January sale. That does not mean an exit is likely at any cost. Much will rest on results over the coming months.
Marco Rose has endured a difficult beginning, with Bournemouth still chasing a first Premier League win and sitting on three points from six matches. If the club remain concerned about the threat of relegation, keeping Scott could become a football decision before a financial one.
Injury setback complicates January picture
Scott’s immediate focus is recovery after suffering a quad injury on England duty. The issue is expected to sideline him for around a month, denying Bournemouth one of their key midfielders during an important stretch of fixtures.
Rose said: “It’s an injury from a muscle, and we’ll do pictures [scans] in some days again. But we’re going to miss him, for sure, for four or five weeks. I’m very disappointed and it’s a big loss.
“We miss a very important player, but I don’t want to blame anyone. “We are very happy that he made his debut for the English national team. He did well and we just hope that he is getting fit again quite soon.”
For now, Bournemouth hold the cards. Liverpool interest, Chelsea interest and Alex Scott’s own trajectory all point towards a major future move. The question is whether January becomes the moment, and whether anyone is ready to meet a £100 million valuation.
Our View
From a Liverpool perspective, this is the kind of report that will naturally spark excitement. Scott looks like a player with the mobility, intensity and technical level to fit into a modern, aggressive midfield. He can receive under pressure, drive forward and play with purpose, which are all attributes supporters tend to value highly.
The obvious pull is Andoni Iraola. If a coach already knows the player, trusts his character and understands how to deploy him, that always matters. Liverpool’s recruitment has often looked strongest when there is absolute clarity on role and profile, and Scott appears to tick plenty of boxes in that regard.
That said, £100 million feels enormous, especially for a January deal and especially with Bournemouth likely to dig in if results stay poor. Liverpool supporters will probably admire the player while also wondering whether that fee could be better spread across multiple positions.
Still, if Scott keeps progressing at this rate, the price may only keep climbing. For a hopeful Liverpool fan, the ideal scenario is simple, monitor the situation closely, maintain the relationship, and be ready if Bournemouth soften their stance. If Iraola truly sees him as a major piece for the next phase at Anfield, supporters will trust that judgment and hope the club are in position to act decisively.
