British Columbians looking to travel locally this fall have a number of world-class resorts to choose from for their stays.
The 33rd annual World Travel Awards recently unveiled the top resorts in Canada, and three are found here in B.C.
Whether you’re looking for a luxurious getaway or an opportunity to get back to nature, the recognized resorts have a stay that’s perfect for you.
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler was named Canada’s leading resort for the fourth year in a row.
The luxurious mountain retreat is nestled in the heart of the resort municipality. You can enjoy world-class amenities, impeccable service, and stunning surroundings while exploring Whistler’s famous slopes.
Make sure to add a visit to the Whistler Spa at the Four Seasons Resort to your itinerary, as it recently won an award for Canada’s best resort spa in the 12th annual World Spa Awards.
Klahoose Wilderness Resort
Taking home the award for Canada’s leading wilderness resort is the Klahoose Wilderness Resort.
Klahoose Wilderness Resort is a small, all-inclusive retreat in Desolation Sound that opened in 2021. Owned by the Klahoose First Nation, the resort offers four lodge rooms and three private oceanfront cedar cabins.
Those looking to see whales, grizzlies, and other wildlife in their natural habitat will want to book a stay at this award-winning destination.
Kingfisher Pacific Resort & Spa
Kingfisher Pacific Resort & Spa was awarded the title of Canada’s leading boutique resort this year.
Located near Courtenay and Comox, about a four-hour journey from Vancouver by car and ferry, Kingfisher Resort welcomes guests for overnight stays and visitors to the day spa.
The award-winning spa, Pacific Mist Spa & Hydropath, is a must-see. You can enter a sandstone-sculpted cave, following the path on “an immersive journey through six distinct environments,” according to the website.
The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 to “acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence” in key travel, tourism, and hospitality industry sectors around the world.
Vancouver and B.C. were also recognized in several other World Travel Awards categories.
YVR was named North America’s leading airport, beating out heavy competition from across Canada and the United States.
The city was named North America’s Leading City Break Destination. And those looking to embark on a voyage can do so at the Port of Vancouver, which won North America’s Leading Cruise Port.
