Knorr Brings Flavour to Onitsha’s 500-Year Monarchical Celebration at Ofala Festival 2026
Knorr Brings Flavour to Ofala Festival 2026, Celebrating Onitsha’s Cultural Heritage

As the people of Onitsha gathered to commemorate 500 years of monarchy at the 2026 Ofala Festival, hosted by His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe (Agbogidi), the Obi of Onitsha, Knorr brought flavour to the celebration through food experiences that connected people to local cuisine, culture, and community.

Held on October 16 and 17, 2026, at Ime Obi Ezechima Square Stadium in Onitsha, Anambra State, the festival provided an opportunity for the brand to celebrate the role of flavour in making shared food experiences memorable.

Themed “Igba Mbo, Iga Niru – Strive and Advance,” this year’s festival honoured Onitsha’s rich heritage while celebrating its continued progress.
Through its participation, Knorr reinforced the message behind its “Share the Good” campaign, which celebrates the power of food to bring people together, strengthen community bonds and inspire kindness. The brand’s presence at Ofala provided an opportunity to celebrate local food traditions and the connections that make shared experiences meaningful.

At the heart of Knorr’s participation was the Knorr Village Market, where festivalgoers sampled smoky jollof rice prepared with the recently launched Knorr Smokey Party Jollof Seasoning, alongside Anambra’s signature Ofe Onugbu, served with Akpu.
The sampling experience brought local flavours to the festival, giving consumers the opportunity to enjoy familiar Nigerian dishes while experiencing the distinctive smoky taste of the new jollof seasoning. Festivalgoers also explored and purchased Knorr products and received exciting rewards.

A key highlight was a live cooking competition moderated by Knorr brand collaborator, Chiamaka Nwakalor-Egemba, “Chef Amaka”, featuring two teams preparing traditional native dishes with Knorr seasoning cubes. The dishes were sampled and judged by on-ground attendees, while Chef Amaka selected the winning team and awarded them Knorr-branded merchandise.
Through its participation at Ofala Festival 2026, Knorr celebrated the connection between food, cultural heritage and community. From the Knorr Village Market to the live cooking competition, the brand created opportunities for festivalgoers to experience local cuisine, celebrate their heritage and connect over food.
