RWJBarnabas Health, a 14-hospital system based in West Orange, N.J., has appointed Erwin Wang, MD, as the inaugural senior vice president of physician performance improvement, effective Oct. 15.
In the newly created role, Dr. Wang will “serve as the enterprise architect for physician-driven clinical performance transformation, aligning care models, clinical standards, and incentive structures to achieve top-decile national performance in safety and value-based outcomes,” RWJBarnabas said in a news release.
He most recently served as director of quality, clinical documentation and value-based medicine at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in New York City, where he began as an internal medicine resident in 2014. At the hospital, he led about 25 service line chiefs and department heads, according to RWJBarnabas.
Dr. Wang will report to the system’s chief medical and quality officer, Andy Anderson, MD.
