A.J. Brown has sent a heartfelt message of support to Jalen Hurts after the PhiladelphiaEagles quarterback was diagnosed with a serious blood clot condition that is expected to sideline him for the remainder of the NFL season.
Brown, who spent four seasons alongside Hurts in Philadelphia, expressed his concern for the quarterback despite their separation following the 2025 NFL campaign after a tense period between the wide receiver and organization behind closed doors.
Eagles make a risky bet on Joe Milton's cannon arm amid Hurts' injury
The pair helped the Eagles reach two Super Bowls and capture the championship in 2024 by beating the Kansas City Chiefs, building a successful partnership before Brown moved to the New England Patriots.
And speaking about the situation, he made clear that his respect for Hurts remains unchanged despite his relocation to the Gillette Stadium to partner up with Drake Maye and New England.
“Yeah, I’m getting the news just like you are. It’s a tough situation, man,” Brown said. “Got a lot of love and respect for him. Praying for him. You know how serious it was, all of us kind of found that out. But he’s a tough guy.
“He can handle anything. He can handle it. I pray that God continue to keep his hand on him. It’s a lot of love and respect for him this way. So, speedy recovery.”
NFLPA calls for investigation into Jalen Hurts' medical care
The case drew attention after Hurts was cleared to play in London despite an ultrasound on October 10 revealing a superficial blood clot as the Eagles said their medical staff and doctors concluded that activity and mobility were important and that he could safely participate.
And the revelation has prompted the NFL Players Association has demanded a full investigation into the medical care provided to Hurts after the quarterback was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli.
The union issued its statement Tuesday night after NFL chief medical officer Allen Sills defended the Eagles' handling of the situation relating to a condition involving blood clots in both lungs.
The NFLPA said it had not been informed of any league investigation as of October 20 and called for a thorough review before conclusions were reached about the treatment Hurts received.
After returning to Philadelphia, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the clot, leading the team to rule him out against the Carolina Panthers before further testing subsequently established the more serious diagnosis, with Hurts expected to miss the remainder of the season.
Sills defended the medical process, describing the Eagles' approach as “very conservative, very patient-focused and appropriately guarded in every step”, whilst Nick Sirianni also expressed confidence in the team's medical personnel, insisting that player health remained the priority.
