The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday tied the ongoing direct recruitment of federal police Inspectors to the final decision in a pending case. Justice Ayyaz Shaukat issued the written order while hearing a petition filed by 39 Sub-Inspectors (SIs).
The petitioners challenged a Ministry of Interior (MoI) notification and a Public Service Commission advertisement that announced direct recruitment to the post of Inspector.
Their counsel argued that direct recruitment to the post contradicted the Police Order. He maintained that the law does not provide for appointments through this route and warned that continuing the process could lead to appointments made in violation of the prescribed legal procedure.
In response, the court issued notices to the interior secretary, Inspector General of Islamabad Police, additional inspector general, chief commissioner, deputy secretary of the MoI, and the Public Service Commission. The court directed them to submit their responses.
The recruitment process will now remain subject to the final outcome of the pending case.
