Drivers travelling along Pearson Street outside Churchlands Primary School are being reminded to slow down, with semi-fixed cameras continuing operations in both directions of the busy street.
The cameras enforce the 40km/h school zone speed limit during school terms, between 7.30am and 9am and 2.30pm and 4pm.
Outside of these school hours, the Pearson Street speed limit is 70 km/h.
For most Western Australian schools, the first day of the final term began on Monday and will run well into December.
The cameras were installed as part of the State government’s school zone speed enforcement program, which saw 20 semi-fixed cameras installed at high-risk school zones across WA.

Churchlands Primary School, home to more than 550 students, was one of the schools identified as a location for the cameras following consultation with the Road Safety Commission’s children’s crossing unit and an independent analysis of speed data.
The semi-fixed cameras will remain in one location for an extended period before being relocated to other school zones as road safety priorities shift.
Road Safety Minister Jessica Stojkovski said school zone speed limits were vital in protecting children.
“School zones speed limits are vital in helping keep our children safe,” she said. “These safety cameras send a clear message that speeding around schools will not be tolerated.
“Making school zones safer by reducing speed not only reduces road trauma, but it also fosters walkable environments, which encourages active means of getting to school.

“The Cook Labor Government will continue to invest in initiatives that encourage safer driving behaviours to create a safer journey for everyone.”
The program is part of the State Government’s $80 million Road Safety Reform package and is funded through the Road Safety Commission’s Road Trauma Trust Account, which allocated 100 per cent of the safety camera fines to projects and programs aimed at reducing injuries and deaths on WA roads.
The other schools scheduled to also get the cameras are Maida Vale Primary School, Hampton Senior High School, Hammond Park Catholic Primary School and Secondary College, and Kingsway Christian College.
