Cong leader urges Nagaland, Manipur citizens to join AICC protest in Delhi

Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): Congress leader Rajesh Kumar Sethi Jain has appealed to citizens, particularly in Nagaland and Manipur, to participate in a protest called by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the INDIA alliance in New Delhi on October 12, demanding the resignation or removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.In a statement, Sethi, National Coordinator of the AICC Minority Department in charge of Manipur and former Chairman of the NPCC Minority Department, said the protest was aimed at defending the Constitution, protecting democracy and upholding the sanctity of the electoral process.“This is not an issue concerning any one political party or any individual. It is an issue that concerns every citizen of India,” he said, adding that the right to vote was the foundation of democracy and that citizens had a stake in ensuring a transparent, fair and accountable electoral system. “The need of the hour is for every Indian who believes in democratic values, constitutional principles, and the power of the people’s mandate to raise their voice peacefully and unitedly,” Sethi stated.He also referred to Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Imran Pratapgarhi, saying they continued to stand with the people and fight for their rights. “Their struggle reflects the courage and commitment needed to protect the Constitution, democracy, and the voice of every citizen,” he said, appealing to people across the country to join the protest for justice, accountability and democratic values.Sethi urged students, youth, workers, professionals, members of civil society and citizens from all walks of life to participate in the demonstration. “Let us rise above party lines and stand united for the nation,” he said.
