Valor Mortis is divided into multiple levels, each being in a different area. Each area is quite large and has a ton of hidden secrets that can only be reached after unlocking specific abilities. Some abilities only unlock much later in the game, making it quite tedious to make your way back. Heading back to explore becomes much easier after unlocking fast travel. Valor Mortis is a soulslike, and like the other games in the genre, this game also has specific safe points. The safe points in Valor Mortis are the Lanterns, where players can also level up. Like other soulslike games, the Lanterns also act as a fast travel beacon. Players can interact with the Lantern and fast travel to any other unlocked Lantern in the game.
However, this feature is not available from the start, and players have to unlock it first. To unlock Fast Travel in Valor Mortis, players simply need to progress the story until they defeat the ‘General Lothair, the Eagle-Bearer’ boss.
Upon defeating this boss, players will be able to enter the Abandoned Church. This place will become the base of operations for players, and reaching there will unlock fast travel in Valor Mortis.
