The service allows Ebury Institutional to act as an independent intermediary, holding funds securely until all conditions of a deal are met. These services are provided across a wide range of scenarios including M&A, litigation, liquidations, sports, real estate, maritime and global trade.
Ebury Institutional has seen a growing demand from legal advisers for independent, regulated infrastructure to manage funds in complex transactions. As global transactions grow more complex and increasingly cross-border the safe and secure movement of funds is becoming as critical to a deal's success as the transaction itself. Building on its regulated payment infrastructure, Ebury Institutional has already secured multiple mandates, highlighting the scale of demand for trusted transaction infrastructure.
Ebury Institutional's escrow and paying agent services provide two core capabilities:
• Escrow accounts: Independent safeguarding of funds under agreed contractual terms, with controlled release upon satisfaction of predefined conditions.
• Paying agent services: Distribution of funds to recipients across jurisdictions and currencies. Ebury will handle the complexity of verification, holding funds, and executing payments.
Daniel Dunne, Head of Escrow and Paying agent Services at Ebury Institutional, said: “This launch reflects our commitment to giving clients the infrastructure they need for their most critical transactions. As deals grow more complex and scrutiny around client funds increases, law firms and other advisers need an independent partner who can take on that responsibility. It allows clients and their advisors to move through high-value transactions with confidence rather than managing the administrative burden and risk themselves.”
Beyond escrow and paying agent, Ebury Institutional supports institutions operating across borders with FX risk management, transactional accounts, and cash management. With dedicated private markets knowledge in key fund jurisdictions, including Luxembourg, UK, the Channel Islands, Switzerland, Singapore and the UAE, the team combines local expertise with a single global platform, helping clients navigate the complexities of cross-border money flows.
Menne Mennes, Managing Director for Ebury Institutional, added: “Bringing escrow, paying agent, FX and transactional accounts under one offering removes the need to coordinate multiple providers on a single deal, giving clients and their legal advisers full visibility over funds at every stage of the deal.”
The launch marks a further step in Ebury Institutional’s growth, adding to its existing service of payments and FX risk management for fund managers, corporates and legal advisers operating globally.
