LG Uplus (032640.KS) said on the 14th that it had carried out a special inspection of its telecom network ahead of the 2026 professional baseball postseason at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, which will undergo remodeling after this season.
The carrier said it optimized antennas inside and outside the stadium and measured on-site service quality a day earlier, just before the playoffs opened. It also used an artificial intelligence agent to manage traffic and fine-tune network parameters so that fans can use wireless internet without disruption even when large crowds log on at once.
The company has steadily expanded network infrastructure at the stadium. It has installed about 1.5 times more fifth-generation (5G) equipment than when the service was first commercialized, and has periodically replaced antennas to deliver LTE signals more evenly across the venue. Aging Wi-Fi equipment has also been inspected and replaced, and the carrier has deployed additional mobile base stations for major games expected to draw sellout crowds, such as Korean Series and playoff matchups, to handle temporary spikes in demand.
"Postseason attendance at Jamsil runs about 15% higher than the regular-season average, so we expect data usage to rise by a similar margin," said Kwak Jun-young, head of LG Uplus's metropolitan area infrastructure division. "We will do everything we can to provide the best call quality without interruptions, even when large crowds gather at the same time."
