Dr Shaw, principal of Northwood School in Durban North, followed through on the pledge during the school’s Monday assembly on 19 October 2026, after students met the challenge he had set as part of the annual Real Life Knights Cancer Drive.
The agreement was straightforward: if 300 boys from the school’s Squires and Knights programme agreed to have their hair shaved for the Friday cancer awareness drive, Dr Shaw would shave his own head at the next assembly.
The boys met the target, and the principal kept his word as reported by Briefly News.
