Jharkhand Police rescued four missing girls from New Delhi and Jaipur, including one who had been missing for 10 years, news agency Press Trust of India reported, citing a senior police officer.
A special team from Khunti Police rescued the four girls and brought them back on Monday. Police said three had been lured by human traffickers with promises of domestic work.
The fourth girl was taken to Delhi about 10 years ago. After employing her as a domestic worker for six months, the traffickers sold her in Jaipur, according to police.
The breakthrough came when police travelled to New Delhi to search for two missing girls aged between 13 and 14. The girls had been missing since November 2025, and their parents had filed missing-person cases at the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit police station in Khunti.
Khunti Superintendent of Police Rishabha Garg told PTI, "We have rescued four missing girls. Three were rescued from separate locations in New Delhi on October 15, while the fourth girl, missing for 10 years, was rescued from Rajasthan's Jaipur. Two are residents within Khunti police station limits, while the other two hail from Karra police station limits."
Garg said police received a clue about the girl missing for 10 years when a new Aadhaar card was being made for her. During the Unique Identification Authority of India's verification process, her details were matched with her ancestral village and old mobile number.
"After this, police traced her location through electronic surveillance, and the same team sent to New Delhi went to Rajasthan and rescued her," Garg told PTI.
The police officer said the girls had been trapped by human traffickers on the pretext of providing domestic work, with some placement agencies also involved. Police are investigating these agencies and will take strict action against them, he added.
