Luciano Spalletti said that Juventus players need to look at themselves after Gleison Bremer criticised his teammates for not showing enough character in Sunday’s 3-0 Serie A defeat against Lazio, but says that he will be doing the same of himself: ‘I need to ask myself questions and find the answers’.
What Spalletti said after Bremer’s criticism of Juventus
The tension is palpable in Juventus circles following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at home against Lazio, which has left the Bianconeri eight points off the league leaders after just seven matches. They are currently worse off in terms of points than they were at the same stage of the 2025-26 season, just before Igor Tudor was dismissed from his position as head coach.

It was a miserable evening for Juventus supporters, some of whom turned on each other and began fighting in the stands. They were heavily criticised in Monday morning’s newspapers and defender Bremer also chastised his teammates, claiming ‘I can’t carry everyone’.
“It is true, the coach gives indications, but we are the ones who need to put it into action on the field,” said the Juventus defender after full-time on Sunday.
“However, there are 11 players on the field, plus the five who come off the bench, so I cannot just carry everyone. I try to give a hand, I talk to them, but they all have their own character. We can push them to a certain point, but that’s all, some have more character than others.”

Spalletti was asked for his response to Bremer’s remarks in an interview with Sky Sport Italia shortly afterwards.
The coach said: “He needs to give a response, it’s good that he does his analysis. He’s as much a part of today’s game as I was, whether I’m in the stands or on the touchline, I’m involved too.
“Before talking about the team, we have to look at ourselves as individuals. In my own analysis, looking at the way things were managed and the journey that led to tonight’s performance, I need to examine myself. I need to ask myself questions and find the answers, otherwise it becomes too easy to just shift the blame onto others.”
