Spanish quantum hardware vendor Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech has completed a €19.6 million ($21.9 million USD) first close of its Series A funding round. The investment combines defense industrial capital from Indra Group and sovereign technology funding from Spain’s Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT) under the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration.
The capital injection accelerates the manufacturing, chip fabrication, and commercial deployment of Qilimanjaro’s full-stack quantum platforms. Rather than relying solely on conventional transmon architectures, Qilimanjaro utilizes fluxonium superconducting qubits, which offer longer coherence times and greater natural resilience to flux noise. This multimodal strategy integrates both analog and digital quantum processing units (QPUs) with classical High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure to address optimization, simulation, and defense-related artificial intelligence workloads.
| [ Series A Capital Structure & Strategic Deployment ] | ||
|---|---|---|
| Participant | Commitment | Strategic & Industrial Alignment |
| • Indra Group (IndraMind) | • €10.0 Million ($11.2 Million USD) | • Co-development of sovereign AI, defense, and cyber-resilient dual-use technologies. |
| • SETT (PERTE Chip) | • €9.6 Million ($10.7 Million USD) | • National microelectronics grant facility supporting domestic QPU fabrication and packaging. |
| • Avançsa & Follow-on | • Q4 2026 Final Close | • Regional capital participation to finalize total Series A funding requirements. |
Indra’s participation through its IndraMind unit signals growing European defense-sector interest in quantum-accelerated AI and secure communications. Qilimanjaro’s hybrid deployment model is already operational in production environments, building upon Qilimanjaro’s deployment of an analog quantum system at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the launch of its multimodal Quantum Data Center in Barcelona.
