Oct. 12 (UPI) -- The NFL suspended San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw for one game for unsportsmanlike conduct in Week 5, the league announced Monday.
Greenlaw's suspension stems from an incident that occurred in the second quarter of the 49ers' 32-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in Seattle.
A source told NFL Network that Greenlaw plans to appeal the suspension.
The veteran linebacker performed a headbutt -- while wearing his helmet -- on Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV, who was not wearing his helmet, on the Seattle sideline Sunday at Lumen Field.
Things are getting heated between the Seahawks and 49ers.

Greenlaw drew a personal foul and was ejected for the incident, which occurred after he delivered a late hit on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold.
Greenlaw totaled three combined tackles against the Seahawks. He logged 37 combined tackles and a forced fumble through his first five starts of 2026.
He is not eligible to return until Oct. 20. The 49ers will host the Washington Commanders on Oct. 19 in Santa Clara, Calif.
